Step 1
  1. Mix flour and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening until uniform. Cover; needs no refrigeration.
Step 2
  1. Single 8-9" Crust: 1 1/2 cups with 3 tablespoons water Double 8-9" Crust: 2 1/4 cups with 4 tablespoons water Double 10" Crust: 3 cups with 6 tablespoon water.

    I use a food processor for ‘cutting’ the shortening in-then mix in the liquid by hand-you have better control that way-and you won’t overmix and make the crust tough.

    I always used good old lard that I buy from the Amish community… nice and fresh… have you ever used it in your pie crust?
